The news came as a real shock because I was unaware that he was ill. I last saw I can remember seeing him was in Southwark Crown Court a while ago when we were co-defending in a conspiracy to defraud private prosecution. He was his usual charming, amusing and laid back self. I never heard anybody say a bad word about him. On the contrary,as these pages show, well-liked and respected by all of us who worked with him.
