Simon 19th September 2020

I must have first met Mick's friend Bob in 1979 at Freshfield Place, where they knew how to hold a good party and how to be a bit arty, or was it quirky. In that vein, I liked the 1980 stairway decoration consisting of a montage of newspaper cuttings about Tito (Josip Broz, the Yugosalavian president) whose health went through ups and downs as you walked down the stairs towards the inevitable conclusion. What the world needs now is... more free time for larking about! Our paths never crossed very much over the years, so he remained Mick's friend Bob to me, though I knew of his reputation as a good musician and a great bloke. Jumping forward and from my very limited experience of what he wove into the lives of others, I very much enjoyed the Golinski Brothers concert in Brighton on my birthday just before Christmas 2018, in particular, their rendition of "(Thank-you for the) days" which was moving. From all I've heard about you, thanks for doing your bit to try to make the world a better place and, in particular, thanks for the music, Bob. My condolences and love to Jane and family.
