For several years Bob and I had talked about going to watch his team, Brentford, play mine, Preston North End. Finally, in January this year we decided this was the time to go. It would be PNE's final visit to Griffin Park before their move to the new ground. Bob, enthused, made all the arrangements. The match was set for 18th April.
Covid-19 struck and the match was played behind closed doors. Never mind, I thought, Bob and I can go to the new ground together. That game is scheduled for 3rd October, still behind closed doors.
Somehow I'll be finding a way to watch the match and remembering the games that never were. Farewell Bob. Let's hope The Bees can finally clinch that promotion to the Premier League.
