Hey Bob You sure were a dude. It feels wrong writing ‘were’ instead of ‘are’. You were in lots of cases, and you did some great work. One pretty insignificant case still makes me chuckle. You prosecuted a drug dealer caught with ¾ kilo amphetamine and ¼ kilo cannabis. He said it was all to do with fitness- the amphet gave him power at the gym, and he used the cannabis to make space cakes. I struggled to keep my face straight as you gently took him apart in cross examination, teasing him about whether he was serious when he claimed to be using massive amounts of drugs and ‘gobbling loads of cakes’ to improve his health. The jury loved it too. The whole thing was forensically brilliant, but it was done with such good humour and respect. I think one of the last times I saw you socially was DP’s drinks party. Coincidentally we both had tickets for something at the Lowry that night and with Jane we got the tram out there together. I can’t remember what I saw at the Lowry, but I remember having such a laugh and a good time on the tram with you. You always were so interesting and I loved your stories. Remember when we went on tour for our ‘stadium gig’ at Cardiff? For Battle of the Bands. And almost getting food poisoning from the dodgy breakfast at the dodgy B and B the next morning? I don’t expect EPF was your favourite band to have been in… But it was mine. I don’t suppose it was a band for dudes, but it was a band for fun. Yep, you totally outclassed most of the rest of us, but you never made us feel it. I’ll miss you Bob. Rest in peace. My sincere condolences to Jane and to Fran and Ellie. Tina Landale
